Sealing a Shore Cord Fitting

I'm replacing my shore cord with a fixed plug and converting to a twist lock plug on an extension cord. The existing door / hatch needs to be removed and replaced with a plate, that I have already constructed out of UHMW.

What type of sealer should I use between the new plate and the metal sidewall? Can I use a white silicone?

Use butyl tape underneath it before you screw it into place,
Amazon.com: Dicor (BT-1834-1) 1/8" x 3/4" x 40' Butyl Seal Tape: Automotive
Then Geocell Proflex around the perimeter when it's in place.
