Small Battery

Any suggestions on a small 12 volt battery just enough to trigger the brakes on the trailer? I remove my batteries each trip because I am normally off grid. I will be on grid next time and would prefer something small for this trip instead of my big heavy deep cycle battery. Maybe a motorcycle battery?

This is what most all utility trailers use that are equipped with brakes. You can buy buy them most any where that sells auto batteries.

Most I have seen are mounted in a small box on the trailer tongue.

most of the "breakaway batteries" I saw are just regular 5AH sealed lead acid batteries

Rather than a M/C battery look into a small garden tractor battery Wal-Mart Tractor Supply etc.

The 5Ah batteries are gelled electrolyte. M/C and tractor batteries are flooded cell (liquid electrolyte).

On a travel trailer it won't make a difference since flooded cell is expected. But a small, sealed box on a utility trailer might not tolerate the outgassing of a flooded cell battery.

Totally agree but I had hoped the OP was talking TT and not a utility trailer
