Solar on the Side - Battery Disconnect

I am adding a battery shut off switch and small solar battery maintainer to hopefully keep my battery level up while it is in storage. As I was preparing to wire the system together I began thinking if I use the solar on the side for the maintainer there will not be electricity flowing to the battery through the solar on the side connector. It's not a big problem, I have a connector I can wire directly to the battery, but I am trying for the neatest installation.

Thank you, I'm trying to save myself a trip to what will be a very messy storage area after the storms that went through the past two nights.
