Spare Tire Carrier

I want to get the spare tire off my bumper and underneath the trailer.

I found this on Amazon and eBay:

https://www.amazon.com/BAL-28218-Hid.../dp/B00KPQYV0E

Does anyone have one?

Installed one on my parents 5th wheel. It works well and it is easy to install.

If I remember correctly there is more than one model, so make sure you get the model that works with your frame.

I installed this version from BAL on our Jayco hybrid:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1DRLY6/ref=dp_cerb_3

The version you posted hung to low and would have caused ground clearance issue on our unit. I read great reviews on both while doing research.

Reason for us was removing the spare tire from the bumper to make room for a 4-bike rack. I had a welder weld in a CURT RV 2" hitch to the frame (below the rear bumper). Once the tire was relocated there was plenty of room for the bikes and I also added 2 small plastic "ammo boxes" from Harbor Freight to hold smaller exterior items (hosed, nozzles, filters, etc.).

I called BAL today and talked to several people. Long conversation with the engineers who developed both the Hide-A-Spare and the Retract-A-Spare

Hide-A-Spare only guaranteed up to 100# and if modified in anyway voids warranty. GREAT unit for RV Trailers (Non-motorized). It includes mounting hardware to mount tire to carrier, but not the carrier to the frame. Dozens of different types of frames require shortly/longer bolts. Need to be GRADE 5. If purchased online - does not come with box because the box cost.

Retract-A-Spare Part #28240 is designed for motorized, narrower chassis. Can be mounted into recessed area if you have the real-estate
