I have a 2011 Jayco Greyhawk 31SS, it came without a spare tire which I just purchased plus the rim. I was wanting to carry the tire under the motor home and was wondering if anybody knew where I could get the hardware needed.

Suffice it to say that yes you can mount the spare tire under the rear of the MH or as I have done above the rear bumper. The discussion is about weather you need to beef up the frame rail extensions need to be beefed up to support the extra load. I recommend you read the thread because it will give you good information. I paid to have the sub frame beefed up to support the extra weight and to install a heavier 7500# hitch that which the Ford E450 supports but cannot be done with the Jayco frame rail extensions.

I put mine in the rear storage compartment (3100SS). It takes up some of the space, but there is more space than I use in that compartment anyway. I do not carry tools to change the tire, I'll leave that up to AAA, but carry a spare just in case they don't have one in the size I needed.
I put one in my Greyhawk 3100SS. It is heavy. Guessing 50-75#. I don’t plan to change it myself, never have. But like the assurance of knowing at least AAA will have one when I have to call them. Mine has the steel rim and I assume that is significantly heavier than the alloy rim.
