Specific GPS for Towing

Does anyone have an idea for a Graman or other portable GPS that can be programmed specifically to take into account the height of a camper when plotting routes?

Since I mostly tow alone without the ability to readily consult a paper McNally map listing low clearance bridges, I would like to find a GPS that would automatically re-route me around these dangerous areas.

Any thoughts if such a device exists? Thanks!

Lots of devices Lots of opinions.
Personally we use Copilot on our 8 inch android tablet. It allows for two height restrictions. I have added lifetime map updates, traffic updates, and from Poi factory the points of interest important to us. Rest areas, fuel stations etc. If you are technically savvy enough it works pretty well. Major trucking companies apparently use it. Maps are updated frequently.
We also have the Ford sync2 gps but you have to buy the maps regularly. No height restriction within the sync2 gps. I use it for the big picture of our route and the copilot for the detail. Use common sense. If you think you are going the wrong direction stop and do some research. Most folks have data on their phone.. Use google maps for another view or call your destination campgrd. Always check their website for detailed directions. Downside is google has no height restrictions. I tend to google map the route first then use copilot to see if it routes similar. Gps systems are not perfect. We like the two lane roads but on big trips they can cost a lot of time and fuel. Watch the road signage always and never travel when too tired. You will miss a significant sign. Oh and if your rig is tall watch the tree branches when it is raining. Tv antennas and branches are not friends

Just our experience
YMMV

Sorry it took so long to reply. Yes, Garmin makes (2) GPS units and we use the RV 770.
It allows a complete set-up of both the tow and the tow vehicle.
As well as just the tow vehicle. This feature allows us to use it as a generic GPS when not towing. Very handy!
And, it has saved us on several occasions. The trip planner from Good Sam had us going over a dirt road!! The Garmin corrected this and thank heavens!

We just upgraded to a FW and are looking for the same thing. My biggest concern now is height. Wish they had used a low profile A/C unit in the front.

There used to be...........on the Garmins where you could program for tractor trailers with height etc. Not sure if that's still the caes.

Most of the higher end Garmins allow you to set up your tow vehicle and rig. Weight, height, etc. Basically your choice as to how much you want to spend. Some have built in camers, etc that you really don't need in your gps system.

We have been using the Garmin 760LMT for several years. It allows you to input your height, weight and length. It has kept us off a road that had a bridge weight limitation. We also use the Allstays app that provides the bridge heights for our intended route.

We had our dealer change out the standard front AC unit to a low profile. It cost us $100 for the swap.

I think the Garmin 770 is most popular and gets good reviews. I use the Rand Mcnally RV 70 because I didn't want lot of different screens on my dash. I don't know if you can see it in the pic but it has Rv gps, dash cam and rear view camera all in same unit. It can also be used as android tablet. It also has all the camping apps like the 770. If you just want Rv GPS maybe look at the Garmin 770 because it has voice commands.

X2 - love the Garmin. I use Garmin Base Camp for trip planning and it also takes into account the RV settings.

X3 on the Garmin and Basecamp. We have the RV-660LMT which has all the same features as the 760LMT with a slightly smaller display. It's been very reliable over the last 4 seasons.

Excellent suggestions! Thanks!

I could read all the suggestions on Amazon, but your Jayco opinions, as always, are what I can relate to best!

I use a Garmin 770 and have had a good deal of success with it. I am still a paper map kind of guy and use the Garmin as a secondary source of guidance. No electronic device can be trusted 100% in my opinion.

We have a "Magellan RoadMate RV 9365T-LMB 7-Inch RV GPS Navigator". We are happy with it.
