Spring PM: Bearings & Brakes

Spring isn't that far off, and for many of us we will be pulling our RV's out of winter storage for a spring clean-up in the very near future.

Just a suggestion...., if you haven't had your RV's wheel bearings re-packed and brakes checked/adjusted in the last two years, adding this preventative maintenance task to one's 2012 spring "to-do" list would be a good idea. RV wheel bearing and/or brake failure has been known to disrupt many well planned vacations.

As usual, Bob... a timely and informative post. Now I start looking for the best method of doing this stuff myself. I prefer working on my own vehicles and knowing whether or not it's been done right.

Mike,

Well, if you want to tackle the project yourself, IMO the following thread link provides a good overview of the task at hand: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fu...d/17173784.cfm

I've camped with John Barca (author of thread) on a number of occasions, and never heard his brakes squeak

Yikes, I can see where the specialty tools alone make it less than profitable. Perhaps this is one I should see the dealer about. But thank you for the thread, Bob.
