Stabilizers drag in driveway

Hello hope this is the right place for this.

I up graded from a Jayco X20E to a Jayco Jay Flight 28BHBE. My drive has a bit of a grade to it coming off the main road. When pulling in to the drive the rear stabilizers drag on the street. It is not bad like it is going to rip them off but I don't want to take any chances. I have found on the net drag wheels for hitches. Could I take two of these drag wheels and put them in front or behind the stabilizers to keep them from dragging??

My parents did this exact thing for their driveway. Their driveway was short and steep. They mounted 2 of them them to the frame just before the bumper, one on either side of the trailer. Worked like a charm.

They should work ok. Just make certain you get good quality ones. Cheap ones will collapse if there is very much pressure on them.

That happened when I traded TV's. I went from an 03 Ford Expedition (SUV) to an F-350. Turns out the receiver was LOWER on the 350. I moved the ball up a notch or two on the tang and all was well. Check how level your TT sits on level ground, that might be an option for you as well.

Don't engage you WD bars when pulling in/out that should make the tongue sag a little bringing up the rear of the TT a bit. Might be enough to keep the stabilizers off the ground.

I don't like the idea of adding wheels below the stabilizers. That will always make the rear clearance less than without them. It could ultimately cause more clearance issues in places like gas stations.

@Clubhouse thanks for that info. I have a 13 Ram 2500. When we brought it home with WDH hook up it seemed to ride a little ruff. I am going to pull it around town with out the bars and see how it rides and handles. When I dropped the camper the truck did not raise up very much. May not need the bars. Just use the sway bar.

Can we assume that your TT tows level (or a little tongue down) and not tongue high?

I used to pull my 26BH frequently without bars engaged. Pulled great and no sway. I have pulled my 29QBH too, but only the 1 mile between the storage lot and home. It too pulls great, but my hitch head has a 700 weight carrying limit so I don't go any distances for fear the welds on the hitch head fail.

My point -- check the weight carrying limit of the hitch. I assume you have a class V receiver so that shouldn't be a problem.

The only problem I see with the real wheels is the reduced clearance and extra pressure on the frame. Now you will be raising the entire frame with the rear corners and my worry would be with frame flex or bending.

Planks in the low spot might get the trailer past this problem area. Good luck in finding the solution.

Yes it sits level with the WD. The dealer set the hitch up for me.

My neighbor put1 1/4 plate steelat the bottom of his driveway to prevent his cars from bottoming out, dont know why that wouldnt work! I come in my driveway at an angle to avoid any issusesthen straighten up
