Stool won"t hold water

Our 05 Eagle 341RLQS has a leaky seal on the stool and won't hold water between uses- We had the part replaced once, but the problem returned in a few weeks- What have y'all done to solve this problem? I guess I'll have to remove stool to work on it- Can't see much use in paying some tech to do what I can do myself- Any info welcomed by this frustrated user- JHMO- DD

I had this issue a while ago. What I did was to turn off the water. I then used a piece of coat hanger and bent a small "L" into the end and used the "L" to gently scrape around the groove in the seal to dislodge any foreign material that was stuck there. Then I sprayed a pure silicon lubricant into the groove and over the slider. It's worked for our leaky toilet slide valve, so far.

Of course, maybe you need to replace the flush valve, but maybe not.

Part of my breakdown procedures is cleaing all the TB's. Usually my kids get that fun one. I have found the round head bowl brushes do the best job for these units in that the head fits in the valve with just enough to clean but not put too much pressure on the seal in doing so. That silly seal brush is not worth the free price they charge for it IMHO.

The d@%n stool bit the dust- The dump valve stuck shut and couldn't be opened- We replaced the d@%n stool with a Thetford Aqua Magic V- Had to remodel the water inlet hose so I added a shut-off valve to make it easier to work on in the future- THANX for all replies- They are much appreciated- JMHO- DD

Glad to hear you have the problem solved. That is a lot of service time for that toilet considering that you are living in it fulltime. That is like 20 years for a weekend camper.
