struts pulled off storage door

Any suggestions on how to attach the struts back to the door? Screws have nothing to secure to. Any ideas on how to fix this maybe another bracket or 3m tape. Trying to help a friend out I know pictures would help will try to get some.

I would try rivets.

grab some round toothpicks and some carpenters glue. A dab of glue in the hole and stuff the toothpicks in .... as many as will fit. Let cure overnight and then use a razor blade knife to cut away the excess. Screws will work now.

Had the same issue and filled the holes with epoxy. Once cured, drilled a pilot hole and good to go.

I like the toothpick solution. I have been known to mix sawdust with wood glue and fill the hole.

When my struts pulled off I bought some flat plate with holes in it from the local home store. Maybe 4x6 in size. Screwed the plate to the door with 6 screws and then the strut to the plate. Never coming loose again.

I had same problem, just moved strut slightly and reattached To door in new holes, it’s been holding for a year now. If it ever comes loose again I’ll be using one of these recommendations.
