I just purchased the Camco Power Defender 30 amp, #55301. There are quit a few options, but I liked the features on this protector especially the automatic power reset. This means that the power will come back on to the trailer even if you are gone.

Progressive Industries. A lot of threads on here about them.
Good luck!

You don't want a "Surge Protector" you want an Electrical Monitoring/Management System (EMS). They come portable, plug it into the pedestal then your shore power cord into the EMS. Or they come hard wired, installed permanently into the RV between the shore power cord and converter, you then plug the RV directly to the pedestal. There are many pros and cons to each style.
The EMS monitors for numerous electrical conditions as well as surge protection.
The most common are TRC/SurgeGuard and Progressive Industries. I have a 30a SurgeGuard portable that has been awesome. However based on the overwhelming positive reviews here and other forums I would likely go with a Progressive next time.
I do prefer the portable because I have seen what these things look like if they are hit with a large transient current and wouldn't want that in the TT. For the portable you do have an additional step to secure since it could easily be stolen, but in 4 years no one has messed with mine.

Thanks to all who have responded. I bit the bullet on the progressive industries portable 30 amp ems system. Out of 152 reviews, it was 100% 5 star. That's on Amazon's rating system. Now I just need to find a lock box for it. Ha! Ha!

In the movie "Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade" the last knight left to guard the Holy Grail comments to Indy, "You chose....wisely".
I echo that.
In the documentation that comes with it you should find an 800 number for tech support. I called on a Sunday afternoon and left a message and got a call back less than 2 hrs later. The Progressive stuff seems a bit $$$ but this is one of the things I didn't want to go cheap on.

I ordered a lock from the same place I got my PI 30a EMS from, i believe its a master lock brand, a long thin cable (smaller diameter than a pencil) that will secure the EMS box to the power pedestal which deters most people, but a good set of bolt cutters would probably cut the cable in a short time if they really wanted it.

Copied from the Progressive Industries manual.
Keep the following in mind
"The EMS has a 136-second time delay before you will receive power into your RV."

Here is mine in action.
BTW, it has a method of locking with a common padlock.

I have had my PT50C hanging around outside for the past 5 years and it has never been touched. I put a chain around the pedestal with the pedestal door open, then put the chain on with a pad lock hooking through the tab on the PT50C, then close the pedestal door. I could be removed I'm sure, but wouldn't be easy or silent.
I really don't worry about it being stolen, but the chain/lock makes me feel better.

Johnny the Progressive Industries is worth the extra money. Good choice.
I have been able to lock the pedestal cover with a padlock at all but one campground I have been to.

It has a handy little bracket made onto the unit that you can run a lock through. I just wrap a bright yellow chain around the CG power post snug enough that you can't slip it off. I use the bright colored chain in hopes it would deter anyone, from a distance.

I too use a portable Progressive Industries unit and I will personally attest to their excellent warranty.
They've repaired mine twice! The first time water intrusion fried the electronics, the second time the male plug melted (likely the campgrounds fault - but they took care of it).
And I've never felt the need to lock it down.

See my picture in post #10. Mine is padlocked to the power panel using the ring attached to the Progressive PT-50C
