Often there is talk about using IR guns to look at wheel hub temps. I am borrowing a coworker's Flir IR Camera m# TG165. It is about 10 years old.

It is middle of winter here and the TT is in storage. So I have been playing around with it around the house.

Here are a few images, one is of a 1000 gallon propane tank, and another is of a car tire.

I really think I need a new toy.

Those Flir guns are pretty cool. My uncle uses one for tracking downed game down in Florida. Works really well too. I have a small IR gun from back in my gas RC truck days. Its keychain size and works just fine for me. You wouldnt think much about how useful something like that is until you need or use one. Then you got all kinds of uses for it.

Guys. You need to check out FLIR One. It’s super small in size and the best part.. it plugs into your phone. I have the 1st and 2nd gen. Both work amazing for simple temp variations. I use it to inspect TPO roofing, plaster and interior water infiltration issues.
