Girard tankless to Suburban 6 gallon tank...

Hello... we have a 2016 Precept 31UL... and have been back to the factory four times with multiple issues that i will not bore you with here... we are still dealing with the tankless water heater... we hate it. We are looking into replacing it. Did you replace it with a pilot or auto ignition? Where did you have it done and approximately how much did it cost? Thank you for any help in this matter... if you want to talk to me, my phone number is... 215-630-5072.

Thanks again,

Marty

Replaced my Girard tankless with a Suburban SW6DE. This is a 6 gallon tanked water heater with direct spark ignition (no pilot light). Cost me $1250. It's my understanding that if you give Jayco safety reasons that it needs to be replaced (scalding), they will replace it on their dime.

The thankless water heaters are enough of a disaster that Jayco (if under warranty) has been replacing them with a normal water heater at no charge.

The tank-less water heaters work well in a home, because the built in processor measures the inbound water pressure, temperature, and flow multiple times per second, and adjusts accordingly.

That doesn't happen in the relatively inexpensive mobile units, which is why they are so failure prone. Additionally, they are, in my opinion, completely worthless when dry camping. They simply can't keep up with the flow fluctuations from the demand water pump.

And, of course, I don't want to use my propane when paying for electric at a campground.

If you like taking long showers get a 10 gallon. Night/day difference.
