Trailer Wiring Ground Battery Connection

Hi Folks,

I recently received a question regarding Pin 3, White Ground connection relating to the Jayco wiring instruction "do not connect directly to negative battery terminal". I then searched the internet and found another Jayco wiring instruction where this "do not connect directly to negative battery terminal" was not included.

Would anyone be able to provide a fact based technical reason for the Jayco instruction to include this provision "not to connect to negative battery terminal"?

Thanks

Welcome to the Forum!

That wire should go to the trailer frame. My wiring goes into a junction box on the front of the frame, and continues to the frame from there. It doesn't go directly to the battery.

Thanks for the reply.

It seemed like the instructions are relating to the tow vehicle ie tow vehicle chases connection and not tow vehicle negative battery connection.
