Trojan T-105 leaking?

I pulled the two Trojan T-105's out of the battery compartment today and the sides of the cases were wet. Pretty sure I can see that it seeped from the cover. Didn't appear to be overfilled from what I can tell. Unit was at home plugged in.

Any thoughts on what could've caused it and what I should look for? I don't want to cook these expensive batteries.

The only time my sides were wet was in the older battery storage cases with larger vents on top, and after a rain, for some reason I looked inside and the batteries were wet. I have since changed the cases a newer type battery case with raised vent openings and never saw that again.

The only time the tops get moisture on them is when I equalize them at 15.1 volts and there is a little wet gasses escaping which settles on the top.

Is the water level about 1/8" below the ring?
