Trojan T105's dead

Using two T-105's installed new in January 2017 in a Jayco Flight 24' trailer.

Kept charged while in use with a 120 amp portable Go Power solar setup.
Always kept the batts in a full state of charge.

The trailer was left in storage at my remote beach location in Baja Mexico for 30 days.

When I returned, the power tongue jack would not operate.
No juice.

I was sure I turned the battery cut off switch to off when I left.
The battery cut off switch does not have an indicator for on or off.....just a handle that turns a 1/4 turn.
The cheesy idiot light showed one red light for battery power. Not enough to operate the tongue jack.

I used the tow vehicle cord outlet and plugged in the trailer cord to get power for the tongue jack.

After 12 days of using the solar, the batts would never get above 90% charge as indicated by the controller and would drop quickly to <11.7V by morning. Amp input was good at 5-6 during full sun.

They would charge back up the next morning with the sun to the 90% again.
It would seem those batts would no longer hold a charge as they always have.

If I had inadvertently left the battery cutoff switch on for 30 days, would that have drawn them down to the point of no return?
Are they now destroyed?

I'm suspicious of your battery disconnect switch. Does it really disconnect everything, including the carbon monoxide detector? If not, then you can certainly expect your batteries to become depleted in less than thirty days.

The green "on" indicator for the detector goes "off" when the batt switch is in the "off" position.

For the sake of discussion, let's say the detector light was "on" and where I had thought the batt switch was "off", it was actually "on"

Would a 30 day drain from the detector, run two 6V Trojans down to the point of no return and permanently damaged?

Take them to a battery shop and have them Load Tested.

I saw post , but what I didn't see was the word "LOAD". The word "tested" gets used really loosely on these forums. As an electrician of 35 years there are specific ways to "test" different electrical devices.

I would have thought that even with the switch on that the solar would have kept up with parasitic loads.

You tested then by letting them rest >8 hrs fully disconnected and then metering them?

If they are damaged then nothing you can do except replace.

are they out of warranty? if so and they test bad then you have to go buy new ones.. yes your batteries will be drained after 30 days... there are many things that run and drain them in less than 30 days usually...

He said have them tested.
They were......with a load tester at the time and on site.
Weak was the result.

I don't believe those batteries would have been drained down to stone dead in 30 days with just the basic parasitic draw. I have the same batteries, and I have left the trailer unplugged, just sitting with everything off, for 2 weeks. I went from 12.7V to 12.5V. Do you keep an eye on your water levels?

Water level was fine, after sitting for 30 days.

We quit wondering what the Jayco battery disconnect switch does or doesn't do. We always disconnect the negative terminal when we're not camping. Never bothered installing a disconnect switch 'cause it only takes 15-20 seconds to disconnect the terminal on our trailer. If the batteries are fully charged to 12.70 volts, voltage never drops lower than 12.60 volts---even after a month.

FWIW, our trailer's parasitic draw is .3 amps (300 ma) with the Jayco battery disconnect switch turned on and everything else turned off. Enough to drain our batteries to 50% (12.2 volts) in approx. 7-10 days.
