TT Running lites in RV park

Trying to remember which holes to plug in a 10 amp fuse to keep TT running lites on, while hooked up to park power. Can anyone guide me in the right direction?

It's cool to see and sure helps to locate the TT when coming back after dark.

I don't remember the numbers, but look at your plug. I place my fuse in the openings to the left and right of the top notch of the plug.

Thanks, GLSIMMS. But physical what size fuse do you use? My regular 10A fuse will only span to the hole next to each other, not leaving one in between as I understand your comment.

Haven't tried the flasher yet but I'll bet that blows the minds of the neighbors when it's flashing. I'll have to pick one up at the auto parts store just for fun.

I pranked a friend of ours last year by doing this when he and his family joined us on a trip. This was the first time he used his new TT. Before it got dark I put a jumper on his plug without him seeing me do it. Of course when it got dark his running lights were on. I had a few "adult beverages" and lots of silent giggles while "helping" him find the problem. When I finally showed him the "problem" his reaction was priceless. We still laugh about it today. Great campfire laughs!

I have the flasher for mine.. but I keep it there incase I have to call 911 having your trailer lights flashing makes it easier for emergency crews to find you..

There's lots of mixed opinions about having the running lights turned on. A lot of people dislike it, saying they don't want the campground looking like a truck stop, but yet they're quite alright with tacky lights and tiki torches everywhere. I would say just as long as one doesn't go overboard with it and leave them on all night, it should be okay. We've turned them on occasionally when we're at a campground we're not overly familiar with and away during the day attending an event or something, and don't get back until after dark. It's pretty useful knowing which trailer is ours.

I carry a flasher, in my emergency kit. On the side of the road changing a tire, it works really nicely warning oncoming traffic.

A heavy duty flasher for slow flash.

A light duty for a rapid flash.

My old camper had LED running lights on it, and I was known to turn them on while camping. I figure the light output was much less harsh than my porch light and it provided ample illumination to walk back to our camper at night without turning on the porch lights and creating more light pollution. Furthermore, the red and orange light is easier on the eyes in the dark than the bright yellow/white of my porch light.

That is a good idea. I had never thought of that use for flashing the lights.

As a retired police officer who had a campground within my jurisdiction, I have to say this is a great idea. The officers I supervised hated responding to calls at the location because they could never find the correct site especially at night.

I will be adding a flasher to my list of items I carry with me. I would add that it should be kept somewhere readily accessible in an emergency and not just thrown in a tote somewhere. I think I will velcro mine just inside my pass through storage.

It would also be an easy project to tie a two-conductor cable into the #3 and #4 RV plug cable ends inside the junction box, running the other end into the trailer somewhere easily accessible. Tie that end into the flasher with a switch on one side, and you could start the trailer lights flashing with a flip of the switch. With a three way switch, you could have it turn the lights on solid one direction, flashing the other.

No flashing other than for an emergency signal. Lighting at a campsite is sort of an extension of freedom of expression and brings with it the responsibility not to go over the top and turn your site into a circus marquee. We try to find secluded sites at a campground that offer some screening from activities at a neighbor site. We do not do anything that might bring attention to our site, both sight and sound.
