Do you have any external audio connectors or is the hum coming directly from the TV?

Is this a 120VAC TVsetup or a 12VDC TV setup... If it is a 12VDC operated TV system you may be havng trouble with the on-board converter/charger unit not filtered right. Also you may have a external battery minder/charger hooked up to your batteries putting hum on the 12VDC line.

The 120VAC TV setups are pretty much not bothered by hum from external things. Your sound system may be at fault also...

If this just started doing this think about what you may have done to the trailer prior to this... Added LED lights maybe???

Are you connected to a home/garage shore power connection. Does the hum go away if you are running just on the batteries? Do you also get hum when using the AM/FM radio...

Just poking in the dark here hehe...

Rolly is in the process of moving the hosting provider to stop all these problems. Unfortunately it looks like it has taken some posts.....but the good news is when all is said and done we should be normal (the forum...not me)

A ground loop isolator will solve the problem as well. I'm a home hi-fi nut, and run into this problem regularly due to ground potential differences in the equipment. 99.9% of the time, the ground loop hum is caused by cable tv connections. Since I have moved to DirecTV HD, I simply run Toslink (fiber optic) out of the receiver to my system for audio, breaking any ground loop problems at the source; as Toslink has no "electrical" connection.

Keep in mind that ground loop isolators for satellite will need to be rated in the gigahertz range to work, so a typical cable isolator won't work.

I have have this problem too, the hum comes from the TV, not the audio system although I do really notice it when playing a dvd. No hum from audio system (Radio and aux ipod input)

Correct, it's a difference in ground potential between the TV cable feed and the audio equipment. A quick way to test this is to unplug the cable and see if the hum disappears. The audio system doesn't need to be on to introduce the hum, the hum may be lower in level with audio off, but you still have a galvanic connection to the component. Sometimes "breaking" ground loop hum can be a chore.

Larry,

Here's one for cable signals: http://www.amazon.com/VSIS-EU-Cable-.../dp/B0017I3K9M (not for use with satellite)
