Using furnace while driving
I keep my propane on while traveling for the fridge and was told that Rvs with generators use them when traveling to use the air conditioning. My question is I have a trip coming up where we will be arriving late and it will be colder outside. Has anyone turned on their furnace while driving, I would stop about 1/2 hour before we get there to turn it on. I did not check my manual, but my vents/ return and thermostat are clear with the slides in. My main concern would be the burner kicking off because of the wind from driving, although my last bit of driving would be country roads not highway speeds. Has anyone tried this, does it work? Thanks

This will probably open up a big debate. After a quick Google search its mixed answers to this question, most say don't do it, trailers warm up quick so wait until you reach the campground to run it.

Many times with no problems. I have driven in sub-freezing temps and need to keep it on to prevent tanks and lines from freezing. Just shut it off if you have to fuel up!

I think if you turn on the heater once you arrive, by the time you set up it will be fine. We were at seashore in a raging storm, (23MRB) trailer got warm within 10 minutes.

I see no problem with it, but in our case I wouldn't, simply because once the slide is in, the side of the slide is only about 18" from one of the vents, and I'm not sure I'd want hot air blowing on it for that long. Trailers are small spaces and the furnace puts out a lot of heat, so it won't take long to warm up. This can be supplemented with an electric heater if necessary.
On a related note, I've turned on the propane water heater before reaching the site. In our old hybrid, sometimes we would fill up with water once we reached the campground. After filling the tank at the communal spigot, I'd purge the air out of the lines, made sure the water heater was full, then turn it on. Once we reached the site and finished setting up, the water heater was hot and shut itself off.

Yes I have. As above, when traveling in below freezing weather. If not below freezing then I would not. I do run the refrigerator on gas when driving

Waste of fuel. It's camping. It'll only take a few minutes to warm up, and you can start it while you're leveling the trailer.
