Waste ball question(s)

2008 Eagle 299RLS and we noticed the water we leave in the toilet (just an inch or so) does not stay. Leaking past the waste ball seal.
Is there some way to revive the seal or do I have to replace it?
And how hard is that?! Remove toilet or what?

I was told to dump about 1/4 cup of veg oil a couple times a year to lubricate that seal. I have done so for 2 years and no issues, If I was you i'ld try to some oil and see if you can re-lubricate the seal. By the way, no water, just Veg oil.

I was thinking some kind of oil would revitalize the seal . . . like WD40 or something. Vegie oil sounds even better.
Do I let it soak for any given time?

Be careful with WD-40 on rubber parts. It contains petroleum distillates.

Mineral oil is a good household product - or you could just use RV antifreeze (which is safe for pumps and seals)

I typically let it soak for 30 min. You may want to go a bit longer if yours is already dried out.

Thanks all. Also been told to hold it open, and scrub area with toothbrush to dislodge any solids that may be there.

I thought I posted about the toothbrush this morning but can't find it. Use the oil mentioned, rub the brush around the open valve and rinse well.

Thetford even makes a product for lubing the seal but I have never found it needed.

Funny, was at the dealer this morning to discuss my problem and while waiting he took a call from a fellow RVer who was having this problem. The dealer suggested cleaning off the rubber and lubricating with vaseline!
