Water Heater DSI light

I just got home from taking the fiver on a week long trip to the coast. The only issue I had was with my water heater. The DSI light would come on two or three times a day. After re-setting the switch, the water heater would work normally. I always had hot water, and would see the flame, or feel heat on the exhaust vent.

It was very windy, and the fiver was parked with the nose into the wind. I have never experienced a DSI problem on any other trip. When I have turned on the water heater on past trips, it functioned flawlessly. Do you think this was something as simple as the wind, or should I be looking for a more serious problem with my water heater?

In my past RV (76 Dodge Jamboree) I always had issues with the wind blowing out the water heater. So I would wait and see after the wind dies down and see if it continues if not then you know its just good ol' Mother Nature having a good chuckle blowing out you water heater...

My money is also on the wind blowing hard. I have a camping buddy who has had issues keeping his water heater lit during strong winds in which the water heater vent was exposed to the wind. I was running on electric so I don`t know if I would have had the same issues or not if I was on LP gas. Let it run awhile with no wind and see what happens. -Lee

Ok, this makes me feel better. I guess I could always just run down and turn on the water heater, but I don't want to sit around for hours waiting for it to go out.

Take beer and your sitting around for hours will be ok!
