Water Heater Problem

Hoping someone can help me out, my wife and I are living in a 1997 Jayco fit wheel while we are building our cabin and had a problem with our G6A-7E Atwood Water Heater tonight. When we turn the switch on nothing happens, no light, no ignition. Could it be the switch? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

One thing to look at is that all air is removed from the line. Also the gas electrical switch is used as reset switch. Sometimes you have to reset a couple of times in order to remove all air. When there is no ignition the circuit board might be at fault. In any case follow the schematic and trouble shooting on your particular model as stated in the Atwood Water Heater manual.

Purge the gas line

I find that I need to purge the gas lines after the camper has set for a while. I usually turn on the stove and get it to light, then the other gas users will usually light.

Once you purge the gas. Get your assistant to help and one of you should stand outside next to the water heater. When you flip the switch you should be able to hear the ignition sparking. It should spark for several seconds. If you don't hear it you have control issues. If you do hear it and it doesn't light, check the burner tube for spider nests. Spiders love to build nests in small protected areas.

Sounds like an LP only heater. "No light", a backlight in the switch? Is it an auto ignition? If so I'd say check the fuses/breakers. Check the switch with a VOM.
