Water heater troubles

Having troubles with the water heater on our Feather 197.

The heater model is Atwood G6A-7. It has no electrical connection.

The trailer is 2 years old. It has always been a bit tricky to start the pilot, but worked fine once lit.

Problem that occurred last weekend:

Light pilot, let it burn for a minute or so, switch to "ON" position.

Main flame starts nicely, burns for about 60 seconds and then goes out. The pilot goes out also, so the heater is effectively dead at this point.

Tried various positions on temperature control, but seemed to make no difference.

Checked the lines for kinks and could not find any. I don't see any other possible adjustments.

Gas supply seems to be good. All other propane appliances (stove/oven,heater,refrigerator) work fine.

Any ideas? We don't really use the water heater much, and I could live without it. But if I'm going to carry it with me, it would be nice if it worked.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

Here is a link to a PDF file that contains a 2007 repair manual for Atwood water heaters:

http://www.carterd.com/customer/cadi...als%202007.pdf

The repair manual has a trouble shooting guide for pilot water heaters starting on page 9. Also, on page 7 is a diagram of the control system.

After looking at the diagrams and reading the manual you may want to consider whether it sounds like the E.C.O. valve is defective. If it is, it is my understanding that it cannot be repaired but must be replaced.

Hope this helps.
