Water hose

I understand I should be using, (and we always have used) a white potable water hose. Lately, however, She Who Must Be Obeyed has been wondering / hinting that we should use a collapsible or expandable hose. Any thoughts appreciated.

We use the white hose because it is rated for drinking water. My issue with a collapsible hose is that it traps moisture in the folds. We use one for our black tank flush and even though it never touches the "black water," it will smell once in while when I pull it out of the storage container.

We use a Zero-G water hose. It is not "white", but it is led free and safe for drinking water. It is lightweight and super easy to drain and store.

They are collapsible garbage. Got a hole in mine within a week. Return people must get them all day, no questions asked, just handed it over.

The original ones were garbage, now they are advertising the new and improved version.

I'm staying with tried and true white or blue hose. It's to much trouble to use a hose like that with pressure on it all the time. No matter what they say.

Yours was probably an older version or a different hose altogether. The one we have is not collapsible at all. We use it after the pressure regulator, so no problems at all. In terms of usability and performance, the Zero-G beats any white hose, especially in cold weather. Dealing with the white hose in cold weather is almost as bad as dealing with the 50 Amp shore power cable.

None of the collapsible hoses are rated for leaving connected 24/7. They are designed for short time use. You have to read the fine print.

Suggestions Please

Have read most of the post about water hose in search and on this page . I have 3 white hose 2-10s & 20foot. Any suggestions on keeping them organized
Thanks in my 23FB Jay flight ? The storage area is small and the one -forth of the space is taken up with a drain system.
Thanks

I roll each one up individually, connect the ends together. Then I have some long two sided Velcro hook and loop, that I bought in roll form in the christmas section for hanging garland on staircases. I cut 3 long pieces for each hose and extension cord. Once strapped together they stay nicely organized. I can grab, toss, move around and they stay together nicely.

We carry a 4'. two 10', a 25' and coil them separately, screw the two ends together, and wrap a Velcro strip around the coil (on the 25'), and they go in the front pass thru. We carry another 25' spare under a dinette bench, in case there's a need.

We have also had good experience so far with zero G. Note they have separate models for general purpose vs drinking water safe, make sure to get the right one.

I had zero success with the collapsible zero drinking water hose. The end blew off as soon as I turned on the public water supply at the campground. Yes. The end that blew off was at the RV connection which is after my 50 lb pressure reducer. Hello white water hose.

Key, element when looking for new water hoses, is to ensure they are potable water safe. Lots of hoses now days are.

I use a large cable cuff for each white water hose. I can fit 3 25' and a 10' hose with fittings in a plastic milk crate in my front storage. Do the same for my power cords in a separate crate. I use a white crate for water hoses, black for power cords so I know what I am looking at quickly. I like that the crates let air move through and help dry everything out. When coiling them up I do wipe them down with a paper towel if they are wet or really dirty.

x2 They collapse but do not expand like the original ones. I have two of them and they are going on 18 months old and have been exposed to 100+ temps while under pressure for hours & hours. So easy to carry, light & compact. I wouldn't have any other.

We use a zero drinking water house and love it. Between use I spray mild bleach water solution into Hoosiers and screw it closed. Never a smell. Safe travels

Enjoy the journey

X? on the zero G hose. But with any hose I connect it with a pressure regulator at the post and rinse it before every use. I do the same with my old white hose that lives in the back corner just in case I need more hose length. But I hate it compared to the Zero G! PS I keep my Lowes receipt attached to the warranty just in case.
