I also agree...., because I never could get the WFCO to charge at "Bulk Mode" (14.4Vdc). This condition wasn't a deal-breaker for me because the majority of the time I used my Black/Decker smart charger (capable of 14.4Vdc) connected directly to the battery bank (by-passed WFCO) and plugged into the genny.

How did you bypass WFCO with the TT still plugged into the battery while running the genny? Or did you plug into TT to genny separately?

When using the Black/Decker battery charger the TT wasn't plugged into the genny, never pulled the TT's 30amp cord out.... didn't need it since all I needed was 12V TT power and battery bank re-charge.

When using just the Black/Decker battery charger & genny..., I would also plug any devices (laptop, cell phone, etc..) into the genny (Yamaha) for charging as well while charging the TT's battery bank. I kept my genny on the TV tailgate when in use making it easy to work with.

So I swapped out my WFCO converter for a Progressive Dynamics PD4135 converter today. I'm pretty happy to finally see the converter go into bulk mode.

I had previously used OCV to determine my battery charge and it seemed very inconsistent. This winter I started using specific gravity. What a difference that made; I discovered that using the WFCO and shore power it took about 2 weeks to get a full charge on one battery and I could never get over 85% on the other. These batteries are less than a year old and not all that frequently used. But this explained why, after using shore power for 2-3 days I NEVER seemed to have a full battery charge--even when OCV seemed to float at/near "full charge". That 13.2-13.6 V was not doing the job.

Fortunately, I installed a few solar panels and hard wired the controller into my trailer. Of course this controller actually works: sets me to 14.6 V, which my batteries call for, and runs for the time period I demand. After a few days of running a few hours a day with appropriate charge parameters, what do you know...both batteries are 100% on specific gravity.

Also, this solar charge controller permits me 100% control of voltage/time/stages/battery type. It's a shame that Jayco does not give us this type of control.

Happy to saved by solar!! Eventually a WFCO replacement is in order, but until warranty is expired at least solar does the trick!

@jhaan

Save your self the headache and skip the WFCO replacement and get your self a Progressive Dynamics w/charge wizard. Your batteries will thank you.

Yes by replace I mean say goodbye to wfco. I definitely want something customizable like the solar controller is, but this PD with charge wizard looks sufficiently close. I need 16 V to equalize my Trojans but I can always use the solar to do that. Otherwise the PD settings look good for flooded batteries...thanks! Ultimately just would like something that plugs into shore power and doesn't just sit at 13 V from the start.
