Which Generator???

I'm looking at the 3100 for $849 or a 3500 for $1200. Is the extra 400 watts worth the extra $$.

We have a White Hawk 32DSBH

I assume you're talking about the Champion 3100/2800 inverter/generator and a Champion 3500 watt Generator? All you need is the 3100/2800 watt inverter/Generator whos more quiet (58db) than the 3500 watt generator (75 db)

Welcome to the JOF.

... and the difference in noise between a quiet 58db and 75db is HUGE.

How much noise is OK & how much weight are you willing to carry & lift?

I got the Champion 3100 with electric/remote start from overstock.com. I went through retailmenot.com and got a 12% discount. Total was about $815. I love it.

The Champion 3100 goes on sale regularly at Costco for $699. It is becoming a popular option for those that don't want to spend the $$$for Hondas. We have one. Have not used it for the a/c yet but have read reviews that it powers a 15k unit just fine. If you just want the convenience of a smaller wattage one not needed for a/c then consider that the Champion is a bit bulky and heavy.
