Winegard MP1 & DirecTV Cabling Problems

I just purchased a Winegard MP1 portable dish. I connected the supplied coax directly to my H24-100 receiver. Powered up and got an error message 775 indicating the receiver could not communicate with the dish and that that there was a cabling problem. Tried another coax cable - same error. Switched ports on the dish - same error. I can't get past first base!! Any one else have similar problems?

You need to check the mutli switch and lnb settings on the receiver. IIRC you need to be on 2 lnb and also select multi switch all which is found in the setup menu.

Go to setup and select 18 round satellite and mutliswitch. This will send power to the M1. If you plug in a Sat finder inline it should light up. Then you know it is ready to be aimed. You must do the setup first on the receiver and hit continue before even attempting to aim it. I had the same issue but now I can setup and aim in about minutes.

Thanks for the advice. Changing to multiswitch got the 13V on the coax connection I was looking for. The MP1 never did work so I returned it for another and it worked fine.
