Wingman for DTV reception

Anyone using this product? Did it help reception or no improvement at all?

Thumbs up

It helped quite abit. And very easy to install, it took me longer to climb up and get down from the roof than it did to snap it in place on the antenna. Just remember to rescan for channels.

I just put mine on this winter, but so far I have noticed a pretty good improvement for some stations. I would say it will not help in every situation, but for $25 I think it is worth it....

Just picked up one myself. Unfortunaletly it'll be about three weeks before I get to try it out. Hope it works.

I just installed mine, went to try it out and the power adaptor for the DTV converter was dead. Getting a new adaptor this week and I'll try it out on Saturday. We are staying at a County park but it is in a canyon and we don't get much signal. Hoping this will allow us access to more chanels.

I usually get on http://antennaweb.org before I go and see what it thinks I should be receiving. Also helps in the pointing...Seems with the Wingman you are actually pointing 90o off from the little arrow on the dial.

Same with me, took longer to get on the roof and off roof than actually putting it on. It made a world of differance. Ernie

This thread is a little old, but still revelant.
I just installed my Wingman and it was quick and easy. It did improve reception a little here, but we get fair reception anyway.
One problem I had was the A/C was too close to allow the antenna to lower all the way. I cut the first element off to get clearance. I still get the same stations as before cutting it off. We'll see this weekend when we're camping.

We have been doing the BATWING antenna ever since they started up a couple years back. We usually get 6-36 digital stations just about everywhere we go camping. The most I ever picked up was up on Skyline Drive and that was 84 digital stations. Alot were the same channels but from different towns....

One trailer has the plain batwing and the other on has the add on. The add on did help some but I still get many channels without it in the other trailer. The best antenna I played with was one of those VERY LARGE FULL VHF/UHF fold-out antennas from Lowes ($90). It worked like gang busters but after about 20 OFF-ROAD POPUP camping trips it didnt survive any more unfolding and setups. It was strange looking hanging over both sides of the trailer too hehe...

I want to play with the KINGS antenna now. and see what it does. Nothing better than watching the Natl Broadcast stations (NBC-CBS-FOX-ABC-PBS) all in full screen - full HDTV for free just about everywhere we go.

Help needed. We have a Jayco Eagle HT Super Lite 5th wheel bought new last year. We just purchased a Wingman and it would not fit. Took it back to the RV store and they said the newer antennas were already designed for digital reception. Also our old TT had an antenna booster button. I don't find one on the model. Suggestions appreciated.

I added this but the increase only occurs on the high number channels. 13+. The lower channels do not increase. For the price and ease of install it's worth the $20 or so dollars.

I added one to my batwing antenna 2 years ago. It helps some, but I purchased a JACK antenna and it more than doubled the channels that I get at our property. I was getting 4 channels and now get 10. The channels are all coming in from 100 plus miles.
