Wire through the roof

I have read several threads where folks have pulled the wires for solar panels down next too the bathroom vent pipes.

My planned location is perfect for coming down next to pipe and into power room in basement.

Did you do anything special , or just poke hole through existing sealant next to pipe and then reseal back around wire....

I think the more common method is to run the wire down thru the vent pipe itself, not next to it. You have to bring the wires back out well above where any water level would be. At least that is my plan. Waiting until I get the winter cover off and have a look inside to see how realistic this is for me.

I have a sealed junction box on top of the hole cut for the wires. I dont know if I would trust just sealant on the hole as it cracks and then leaks..
