2008 Aspen 5.7litre Hemi

Does anyone tow with the short lived Chrysler Aspen? We are looking at it to buy to tow our 213 Jay Feather and looks like an attractive option vs. the Expedition and Yukon's. It has a 5.7l Hemi with the tow package and rated for 8950 lbs so we will have some room to upgrade in the future. Any insight would be much appreciated. Happy rv'ing. bkerazy

No Chrysler Aspen towing experience; however, you should be in good shape. Many folks tow with the Durango and do well.

No direct experience here either, but I will say, I always liked the look of the Aspen, plus you dont see them everywhere. Sounds like a pretty stout setup, similar to a yukon or expedition.

Just remember there must be a reason it was short lived...

In my opinion, short lived in the case of the Chrysler Aspen was largely due to the fact that the vehicle entered an overly saturated market of comparable models and essentially brought nothing new to table even against other Chrysler's offerings.

While the name "Aspen" is more fitting on suv, the name alone for old guys like me conjures up images of the old Dodge Aspen and Plymouth Volare from76-80, transverse torsion bar F-Body cars of questionable assembly.

The Chrysler Aspen, in my opinion again, is a much better looking vehicle than its mechanical twin, the Dodge Durango of similar model years. If the lack of popularity of the Chrysler Aspen results in getting a good deal I say go for it.

I tow with a Durango. The aspen with a hemi is not a bad choice if equipped correctly. You will need the optional 3.92 gearing if you are towing 5000lbs or more. Also the only tow mirrors that I could find that work well are the ones on the Hensley website that strap to the bottom of the door.

^^I just bought a set of these. Test fitted them the other day. Though I havent towed with them yet, I am highly impressed. They go on super easy and have a great solid fit. I am really looking forward to seeing how much better I can see behind my tt.
