2017 up Super Duty recall for carpet fire potential

https://www.courier-journal.com/stor...sk/2636954001/

Looks like a fairly easy fix so Ford shouldn't have your truck that long...

I saw that. I would rather they recall for the death wobble. The fire has occurred once, DW happens every day and on many trucks with low miles.

Completely agree. I had it happen at 29k miles. So far after the TSB fix, new tires and a dual stabilizer addition, it hasn't occurred again.

My STX has the vinyl flooring and I love it with the Husky mats. No carpet fire here. Agree with the DW recall. I'm at 20K on my '17 and so far so good. This is my 4th Super Duty and have yet to experience it and hope I never do.

Has not occurred on mine either, but it's on my mind. I used to think DW was a result of badly worn front end components on trucks with high miles. But when owners report it occurring with only a few thousand miles ......I even saw one case where it occurred on the drive home from the dealer on day one. Yikes. It will make you think about it.

Yeah and that what sucks as there is always a certain amount of paranoia about it. It is what it is I guess and just hope for the best but I absolutely love my truck.

My 17' has carpet but we also have DOGS, so I got the heavy duty rubber mats from the dealership. Best bang for the buck option ever! Dirt, sand, water, spills - you name it. Saved by the floor mats. I love those things. And I supposed they're resistant to sparks too.

I'm less worried about accidents because I've got Ranch Hand Bumpers front and rear. I think I'm more concerned for the poor guy that breaks his car on it.

I'd love to have the Ranch Hand bumpers but my truck barely, and I mean barely fits into the garage now!

Here's kinda of a funny follow up to the recall.

Also it gives another reason to recommend the Super Duty over a F-150 during those discussions about which truck to get when towing.
Along with Stronger Frame, Stronger Axles, better Engine & Transmission, etc. you can add the quote below from Ford

"because the carpet uses a better "natural frame-retardant [sic] wool fiber blend" and had improved edging near the B-pillar."

I am assuming they meant Flame Retardant Wool fiber blend.
