2019 Chevy Dully Diesel and DEF

My 2019 Chevy Dully has the DEFF Fill in the engine up close to the Dash. When I try to fill it at the Truck Stop (TA) it comes out way to fast and keeps coming back out. Has anyone found a long funnel that would work for this. I would need something that goes down the Fill Tube a ways I think. Any links to web sites or amazon would be appreciated. Thanks.

I doubt a funnel will help since the air still has to come out as fast as the liquid goes in.

Yea I was afraid of that. Its a terrible design. They changed it with the 2020 model and put it next to the Diesel Fill.

My 2014 was like that and there was no way to fill it in a hurry or at a station.

I use a funnel with a 2' tube but it does not help with the fill rate for it is the air trying to come out. I cannot wait until I get to upgrade to the new 3500 with the box side step.

I know, I just stuck to the jugs/boxed stuff for our 2015.

pawags45, my 2019 is the same. I have only put DEF in it once at a truck stop and just ran the pump about as slow as it would go. Didn't have any issues other than dragging the DEF hose across the front of the truck and barely reaching the fill port.

Yea I tried that and could not get it slow enough. Gave up after 1 gallon.

Your 19 is in the same stupid place as my 15 AND 11.
This is what use

https://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-05034...09114606&psc=1

It works well with the box fluid fill. Haven't used it at the pump yet but I will next time I have to fill the DEF tank. It's cheaper at the pump vs the box so I'm gonna give it a whirl

Thanks I just ordered one and will try it. The one like this from Walmart would not fit down the Def hole. It was to fat. Hopefully this one will.

This is the one I use for our GMC, it has the proper offset to get to the filler and works great. It's also at a perfect height for filling with the 2.5-gal jugs.

Thanks I just ordered it to try. The other that Lake Huron linked worked good. But this one looks like it would be better.

X2 - Did the same, though I traded my 2015 2500HD in on a 2021 3500HD DRW a little over a week ago. Really like it so far, though haven't towed with it or even added DEF to it yet. Only about 180 miles on it so far.

I just use the one that comes with box. I also have a long neck funnel that I have used. Both just need some patience.

Your 2021 should have the DEF fill next to the Diesel fill right ? Also on that 2021 is the engine heater on the side that you just plug into ? I think I heard that they made it easier to get to.

I have a 19 and never had a problem at the pump, I just don't click it on full open. I've never bought a jug of DEF yet always fill at stations.

For what it's worth, then I'm going to go look at that Amazon link above...

We have a 2018 GMC 3500hd Duramax, DEF filler is under the hood on the firewall as you described. I've never tried the truck stop hose because I could see the disaster in the making given the location of the fill and the small hole to pour into.

I use Walmart Super Tech, have for 60k miles. It's a pain to pour into the truck but that's GM's fault not Super Tech's. It always dripped a little because of the air chugging through the filler tube as I poured it in. Then I saw a guy on YouTube stab an air hole in the handle of the DEF jug. (he used a pocket knife, I use a foot long Phillip screwdriver) It let's air chase into the jug as I pour and there's no more air chugging in the fill hose. This has worked great for me. Sometimes I still spill a little because of the fill location, but there's nothing I can do about that.
