2020 Silverado 2500

I had an opportunity today to look at a 2020 Silverado 2500 Crew Cab short bed 4x4 Duramax. I thought you all may appreciate some of the door sticker numbers. Again, this is a 3/4 ton.

GVWR 11350
GCWR 27500
Payload 3183

GAWR Front 5800
GAWR Rear 6600

Very nice. The spare tire is a different size from the others. Interesting.

Thank you for not taking a pic of the price sticker. Some of us have weak hearts!!

Here is one more picture. I also noticed that it has a 3" receiver on the back.

That's a pretty good payload # for a 3/4 ton diesel. My '12 F-250 with the 6.7L PSD only had 2300lbs of payload.

Wow......, and I thought my 2 1/2" receiver pin box was a stout set-up. Wonder if it comes with both the 2" and 2 1/2" adapter sleeves

What is your GVWR? Fords are 10k pounds for the F250 which many believe is artificially lowered for registration purposes

That Chevy has a GVWR of a one ton SRW truck

That is exactly it. GM is now showing their GVWR close to the actual Axle ratings instead of that arbitrary 10K, or in the case of my old Ram 9K GVWR.

Wow, that's a game changer for sure and if the 3/4 is that high of a payload I wonder what is the 1 ton payload.

Seems to me that they have in effect eliminated the need (and or kill the sales) of a 1 ton SRW. Also, they’ve effectively lost sales for 3/4 truck buyers in states that require commercial registration for vehicles with greater than 10k GVWR. Of course I could be way off base.[emoji1787]

I think that is spot on, it will be interesting on how this will turn out but yeah if a person don't have a big 5th wheel they will be all over this.

Even those that have the big gooseneck long trailer will be all over this, this could knock up their 3/4 ton truck sales and I can see others trucks owner cashing in on it.

Wow, that is a really good payload for a 2500! I was looking at a 2019 Silverado 2500HD with the Duramax, but the payload was only in the 1900 lb range, which is why I went with the 3500HD. I wonder if the payload for the gas engine would be even higher? Maybe the payload penalty for the Duramax in the new models is a non-issue because of the new/stronger frame.

This definitely is a game changer.. I do know how they did the bump. Most if it's in the tire size. In the past the tires have been a limiting factor for GM. Because of the frame changes they were able to go with a bigger higher weight rated tire. My 2017 gmc 3500hd had its gvwr set at the max weights of the tires. Looking at the new trucks they no longer need a leveling kit to fit the bigger tires. Bigger tires equals more capacity. I noticed the 3500hd number on the 2020 are 400lbs higher then my 2017 3500 srw for payload. It just so happens to be I am 300lbs over on my payload with my northpoint 377rlbh with my 2017. Umm. Looks ton me is the new 2500hd is to replace the old 3500 srw. The new 3500 srw is going to be halfway between the numbers of the old srw and DRW. The new drw is a monster it up with the f450 for payload and the f350 for towing capacity. That's so odd to me the f350 pulls more then the F450 but the F450 can haul more then the f350. I think ford needs to make an f350 & 1/2 and give it the best of both trucks.. just my thoughts. As for the comment on truck registrations most all states will let you state a lower gvwr for your truck as long as you never exceed the 10,000 lb number you can still own a bigger truck you just cant use it to its capacity. Not sure about that with TX but most other will let you state a lower number.

In that second pic I see it shows max tongue weights for conventional and gooseneck trailers. I can't read those numbers but I haven't seen that on other vehicles before.

Just think what the payload must be with the new 6.6 gasser. Will be close to 1.75 ton payload.

I can only make out the metric which is 839 kilos which converted is 1849.67838 pounds conventional and 1259 kilos converted is 2775.619881 pounds
