2500HD Vortec 6.0

Hi all, 1st post here.
We just bought a 2014 Jay Flight 32BHDS that we'll be bringing home next week!!! Our previous TT was 30ft without a slide. I've pulled most of the worse HWY's in the NC mountains with it without any issues.
Question is, I'm being told on another forum that I need to run out and replace my truck. I have no plans of doing so, just looking for some insight from people pulling heavy with that same combo.
I realize it's close to the max numbers, but not over.
BTW, it's an 2005 6.0 so it has the 4 speed tranny. 4:10

Thanks

You will have no problems towing with that truck.

Welcome to the forum!
The towrating on that truck is about 10,000 lbs, according to my 2004. You will be fine on payload and should be OK on weights, IF you do not load too heavy. Since you now have the truck and trailer is on its way, I would take it loaded as for travel to a CAT scale to verify your weights, then give it a real world tryout.
Specs on the 32BHDS:

FLOORPLAN 32BHDS
Weights
Unloaded Vehicle Weight (lbs) 7,590
Dry Hitch Weight (lbs) 870
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (lbs) 9,975
Cargo Carrying Capacity (lbs) 2,385
Measurements
Exterior Length 35' 6"
Exterior Width 96"
Exterior Height with A/C 133"
Interior Height 81"
Queen Bed 60 x 74
Bunk Beds 30 x 73 & 38 x 73
J-Cube Futon 74 x 74
Trundle Bed (Optional) 38 x 73, 38 x 73 & 30 x 73
J-Steel Convertible Sofa 42 x 60
Hide-A-Bed Sofa (Optional) 46 x 76-1/2
Wheel Base 276-1/8"
Tank Capacities
Fresh Water Capacity (gals) includes water heater 86
Gray Waste Water Capacity (gals) 32.5
Black Waste Water Capacity (gals) 32.5
Other

I agree with Crabman that it's a doable TV/TT combination, and that your loading habits will be a big factor...., as well as your personal towing expectations.

Also, remember that the actual "ship weight" on a 32BHDS will be around 8,000lbs.

Congrats on the new TT
Agreed you should have no issues
Keep in mind your truck is almost ten years old and may be a bit sluggish off the line

Thanks for all the replies!
I actually just bought the truck not that long ago. It has less than 50K miles on it, looks like it was frozen in time, I couldn't pass it up. I was looking hard for a nice 8.1 but apparently they're only a myth !
I was skeptical of the 6.0 at first, coming from 454, but so far it has really impressed me. I love my truck....so far !
I'll post an update when we bring it home Saturday.

Yes I think there were a relatively small number of 8.1`s produced. When I was used truck shopping July 2012 I did a search and only a few showed for sale up nationwide equipped with with the 8.1.
