Acme dolly width requirement

All,

I'm looking at purchasing an Acme tow dolly to pull a Honda Odyssey on our trips. On the Acme you leave your steering column unlocked so the wheels move when taking turns. My question is, how much space do you need between the tire and fender shield? My Odyssey has a width of 78". The surge dolly is 80" wide and the electric is 84" wide. Is 1" enough space on each side using the surge dolly (If I pull up the ramp perfectly even) or do I need the 84"? I'd prefer to just use a surge brake to keep things simple, but I'm thinking I need the extra few inches to allow the wheels to turn. I don't want to be taking turns and have the wheels pinned against the fender frame and cause damage to the Odyssey.

Thanks-
