Advice on new TV?

We currently have a 351RLTS (15000 GVWR) that we tow with a 2005 Dodge RAM, SRW, 4x4 with a 5.9L Cummins. Road salt is taking its toll on our TV and we are looking to replace it. Current TV handles the 351RLTS, but is at its limit. Due to current rebates and deals on 2012 models we are considering a 2012 RAM 3500 with 6.7L Cummins, SRW and a 4.10 rear end. Since this thing costs more than our house I would really like to tap into the experience here on this forum (Pro & Con). The TV will be about1/2 time TV. Questions are 1) Experience with 2012 and 6.7L 2) MPG difference with 3.73 vs 4.10 3) Single rear wheels vs dual rear wheel. Thanks in advance for the help.

Our truck is a 07.5 with the 6.7 Cummins and the 6 sp automatic. It is a srw 3500. I think that a 4:10 axle will be a bit of overkill. The 6sp auto has a gear for every situation. I tow our 330RLTS in 5th gear as that seems to be best for our situation.

My TV is a 2008 dodge ram 2500 megacab 6.7. It tows great. The 2012's are very nice and dodge has worked out most of the bugs. Check out www.cumminsforum.com tons of great info on your exact question

I was pulling our 321RLTS with GMC 3/4 crew LB and was getting close to limits, pulled and stopped safely.due to a wreck not of our making, had to get another truck last month.I'm a GM guy so went 2012 Chevy dualley and what a difference towing, the 95 hp gain and the 6spd auto over my 03 with 4 spd auto just blew me away 1st time towing.
i think NY is like Tx so if you go over 26K combined GVWR you need to upgrade your DL class

hausknwa-- Unless your going to pull 2 tt's up pikes peak every day, the 3.73 should do the trick. Larry

Thanks for the reminder, you are correct according to the online info from NYS DOT the max GCWR is 26000 lbs. I think the combo I am looking at is about 500 lbs below that. My 5th wheel is about 15300 GVWR and the truck is 10,100 GVWR. I am doing this from memory so I will check the door jam and camper before I purchase.

Thanks for all the replys. I will be picking up our new Ram 3500 SRW Crew Cab Long Bed with a 6.7l Cummins tuesday. Really excited to hook up and hit the road. I will post a picture as soon as I get one. Kind of funny, but I will miss the old Ram 2500 but the Iron Moths are taking their toll.
