Airlift suspension upgrade?

We’ve got the Jayco HT Fifth Wheel 24.5 Ckts and an F250 tv... into our second year now and we are going to start venturing forth on longer trips so I am considering airlift bags for the added safety factor. Putting it out there... Firestone or Airlift? Do you find these make a big difference in handling? Worth the money?

I'm sure you'll get lots of responses from users, but my neighbor just bagged his truck and he LOVES it!

I have the Firestone with the remote and love it, I love it that I can pump them up on the fly. I had them on my 2016 2500 ram so when I got my ram now I just transfer them over it does make the ride a little firmer.

Sshep, can you go into more details on what you want to accomplish? Our 350 tows 13k# with 3k# on the pin. The weight caused a bit of squat that I wanted to address. I was mentally going down the bag solution but ultimately chose Timbrens which have proven an excellent choice for me. Some folks report a rougher ride when unloaded but my ride hasn’t changed. They’ve leveled things nicely and the $ was good too. Works for me.

I have the airlift 2000 with a compressor so I can adjust from the cab. It works great! The larger 5000 with the internal bumps stops do make for a rougher ride.

Sshepguy, are you sagging down to your bumpstops? Just curious as I have the 27.5RKDS with a Silverado 2500HD and only sag about 1-3/4" inches … no where near my bumpstops. The weight actually puts my truck to level. Chevy's natural stance is high in the back anyway.

Sorry for the delay getting back... my sag is just under 2” when I add our fiver. Thinking that’s not too bad and I may rethink whether I need the airbags.

Airlift suspension upgrade?

Thought I’d piggyback on this dormant thread...

For those who’ve installed bags be it Firestone or Airlift, how do the bags perform on the really wavy sections of road? I was recently on a section that could only be compared to a roller coaster(I-20 between Terrell and Dallas). Watching FW’s and class A’s coming the opposite way, I could see they were enjoying the same exciting ride. I’m currently running Timbrens. Really like them except in this situation as the truck rebounds and comes down hard the Timbrens. The rest of the time they’re in constant contact, so it’s a nice ride. With the right pressure do the bags make for a slightly softer landing or most likely the same?

I have not gone out that way yet with this truck (but will be on October) and can't say I've honestly come across another section that is wavy, at least that I remember.

I feel a much smoother ride with airbags. Still playing around with the pressure
