Allison? in new 2020 Chevy 2500

Found this interesting info about the new 2020 2500HD.

The quality of the Allison transmission is well known.

I had a 1000 Allison in a 2003 Monaco Class A MH I owned for 12 years. Never a bit of problems as I maintained it well.

How will GM badge the truck as the new tranny is not a true Allison transmission?

Watch the video also.

According to this article the new 2020 Silverado HD "Allison" 10-speed tranny is:

" . . . manufactured by General Motors" . . . "tested and validated in partnership with Allison Transmission".

Really have to wonder why Allison wasn't part of the design and manufacturing process.

I don’t know who made the Allison transmission in my 2017 Chevy Duramax, but it is amazing how it controls the downhill speeds while towing my 5th wheel.

For GM, it was all about MONEY as they spoke about in the video.

It isn't clear to me if Allison is still going to build the 1000 model because of the plant closing.

They are still a player in the 4500 and 5500 GM trucks and chassis, and various other heavy duty trucks and equipment.

I dont know if Allison ever made the transmission for GM even the early trucks. As far I have always read it was gm engineered with Allison oversight in the engineering. So a calabaration of sorts? More of a marketing ploy to be able to put an allison badge on it. Either way they seem to good transmissions.

They were "true" Allisons in the 4500 and 5500 since Chev and GM dealers weren't even allowed to do warranty work, had to go to an Allison shop. Never needed work on my 2500 so not sure about those.

I did a quick search. It seems they were indeed made by allison. Maybe they were made in GM factories since GM owned allison till around 2007. Either way it pretty much set the standard as to what Ford and Ram now design there transmissions too. The Ford torque shift maybe even surpassed it.

Sounds like the 2020 models will be a collaboration.
