Am I gonna have a weight problem!?
I signed up to purchase my first rig about a month ago and am eagerly awaiting it's build completion in another month or so. As I wait I have been planning and essential shopping for my pick-up trip to RVOne in Des Moines to bring her to her new home in AZ. Initially I was focused on weight primarily from a tow vehicle capacity - many don't realize that no matter what direction you go from Phoenix you will be going up some serious grades. I have been very careful to understand what my truck is capable of so I'm not on the side of the road in july going up a grade.
Now, as more 24bh trailers are for sale I'm starting to see another potential problem - the GVWR of this trailer is 7250 and commonly the dry weight is close to 6500 giving me about 800 lb of storage, add-ons, water, etc. I want to boondock, add a second AC (it's over 100 1/4 of the year here and i ordered 50A), add serious solar, pack all my stuff, etc. I'm feeling like 800 lb doesn't go very far but I really dont know. Does anybody have some guidelines or rule of thumb for how much weight I can expect to add with all the basics on a new trailer, per person items, or anything like that? I'm worried that my new trailer will quickly weight 8000 lb with all my big plans!
Thx for the feedback.
