Andersen hitch with sway control or another?

So, I Just ordered a 2021 Jay Feather 24 BH. It’s unloaded weight is 6220lbs, gvwr is 7250lbs, with a dry hitch weight of 660lbs.

I have a 2018 F150 with max tow package 3.5 eco boost, 3.55 gears, 4wd, short bed, crew cab. It says it can tow 12700lbs, with hitch weight with WDH at 1000lbs.

Q1) is the Andersen hitch the way to go? If so what model do I need?
Q2) Dealer wants to sell me an e4, is that better?
Q3) or is there other hitches I should consider?

Help, total newbie to wdh’s.

Thanks in advance for any advice?

Those are brochure weights so the actual weights will be higher, except for the CCC it will be lower.
Not to be a downer but the CCC for that TT is real low. Once you add some extras like battery, propane and other adds like special packages that 1030 lbs is going to be smaller. A BH means kids, and kids have stuff. Just something to think about. You'll be maxed out and I see it comes with 14" tires. Not a good situation to be in when maxed out.

As far as the WDH goes, BTDT and what I found was that with tongue weights north of 800 lbs and softly sprung 1/2 tons that the Andersen has a harder time returning the front fender to the proper ride height. Your TW will be close to 900 lbs when all loaded up. Thats a lot of weight off the rear of a 1/2 ton.

I used one for a short period of time with a 12 2500 Cummins and a 900 lb tongue weight. Worked great for me as the front of the 2500 CTD barely raised up so returning weight was nor an issue. The tow was nice as well.

JMO but I'd opt for the Fastway E2 in a 10,000-1,000 lb rating

Of the two brands you mentioned, I would go with the Equal-i-zer WDH (4-point sway control).

As mentioned, the 6,220lb UVW is a published weight (web site, brochure, etc.), not representative of a 'as-shipped' UVW. Based on a couple 2021 24BH's I found on dealers lots the Yellow Sticker 'as-shipped' UVW's were approx. 6,400lbs.

I agree, the reality of the loaded weight being near/or at the 24BH GVWR of 7,250lbs is highly probable........, thus resulting in a loaded tongue weight range of 942lbs to 1,088lbs (13% to 15% of 7,250lbs GVWR). This would be worst case senecio.

I would recommend a WDH rated at 1,200lbs and would be an ideal match for the 24BH. Also, make sure your RV dealerships gives you all the installation/adjustment documentation that came with the WDH.

Once you have your TV/TT under typical loaded conditions, I highly recommend a CAT scale visit to confirm all your weights, WDH adjustment, etc..

Thanks for the information.

(I just double checked my truck stats and with a WDH I can have 1320 lbs of hitch weight. I misquoted as 1000 above. Your statement of 942lbs made me worry I was too close to max.)

in my opinion the Equal-i-zer is teh best hitch you can buy. i started out with a husky hitch from the dealer with the chains and one fiction sway (they should have sold me 2. and had all kinds of problems after letting 2 RV palces even adjust it for me went to an Equal-i-zer installed it my self and it works great.

Thanks, I’m leaning toward just going with the E4 that the dealer wants to sale me. With their discount at time of trailer purchase It’s the same price almost (as the Andersen) anyways
