Anderson hitch

Hi
I Have a 2015 Grand Cherokee and a 154 BH. To properly level the trailer with a Anderson WD hitch I need a 8 inch drop shank. This leaves 9.5 inches ground clearance from ground to the bottom of the shank. Is this enough?

I can't say from experience, but 9.5'' aint much. I have a 1 ton truck and the bottom of the rear axle at the lowest point (gear housing) is only 8''.

So ground clearance going down the road will hit my axle before the 9.5'' hitch shank. Don't know how the clearance would effect, say turning into an elevated parking lot, etc. Shank could bottom out, but you won't know till it happens.

If you have the shank now, I'd put it in and drive into the most extreme driveway/parking lot with a dip/bump/speed bump you can find and see if you bottom out.

Good luck

Thats a good idea. I have the shank so ill give it a shot tomorrow. I still have the regular shank and ball with out a drop. I guess I could always swap it out going into a bumpy or rough campground.

I would think that driveways would be the most likely place to touch down with the trailer attached.
