Anyone else have the Ford frozen door latch issues?

Has anyone else having problems with their door locks freezing on their 2015+ F150 or 2017+ Super Duty?

I just picked up my 2018 F150 from the dealer again today. This was the 3rd time it has been in for the doors not closing and/or not opening since November. They did the original recall and 18N03 supplement in November after they froze open the first time. In mid January, they attempted to redo 18N03 with new updated seals when they froze open the second time. Now they did TSB 19-2007 when the passenger door wouldn't open.

There is lots of discussion over on the Ford forums about this subject but not much as far as solutions. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue and if anything they have done has helped. It's a great truck and tows like an animal. It's just really frustrating that it has so many issues with the doors freezing open or closed.

Had the same issue with my 2017, these aluminum bodies don't keep the heat so mositure inside the door won't dry up. Make sure the drain wholes on the bottom of the doors don't have dirt stuck.

After the latest recall, so far so good, however if they did the latest recall and didn't dry inside of the door it will still freeze.

It's good to hear that you are having success after the recall. I hope that mine gets to that point.

Speaking of the drain holes, I find it very interesting that they are a square shape. I've never seen a drain hole shaped quite like that. I had read on another forum about keeping those clean so I have been paying attention to those closely.

Had mine done a year ago. I live in Texas and only got 14 inches of rain, so I'm dry (and a little warmer than Michigan). Have not had any more problems but the dealer did ask if I had, as a couple of the repaired F150s and F250s had. Second recall in hand if I need it.

Our passenger rear door wouldn't lock. My daughter caught it, and I didn't believe her. Sure enough I couldn't get it to lock. After my 6 month check up at the truck doctor, it has not done it again.

Here's some lengthy discussion about it. I haven't experienced it on my '17 F-250 but then again it's garage kept and doesn't go out when it's nasty cause it's not my daily driver. I mean come on, auto doors and locks have been made for decades w/o problems and all of a sudden Ford can't get this right?

I've posted extensively in this thread.

I know. It is frustrating to say the least.

One funny story though, the second time my drivers door wouldn't close, I drove it down to the dealer literally holding it closed with my hand while driving. When I pulled it in the bay and went up to the service counter, the service adviser asked me if I tried any of the other ones. I replied that after that one wouldn't close, I was afraid to try another one. This young lady working behind the counter said "Yea, I guess it would be kinda hard to hold more than one closed while driving."

Here is another site to check out. Explains the issue and how Fjord (no typo).

https://www.f150forum.com/f118/2015-...thread-435339/

This has been extremely well covered in this forum. Also has been notifying owners about the repairs and the issue is cover to 2022 (I believe that is the correct year) even if the TSB repair has been performed.

My son's 2018 F150 super cab had the door not latch for the first time during the recent cold snap. He has the notice but not taking any action yet as I told him the fix is not reliable as of yet. After a few minutes it latched and he drove to work.

Yep, 2015 F150 5.0
Rear doors would freeze up when the weather was getting cold. In for first work up and was told that a fix for the doors was being applied. Worked for a few months and the rear door started to act up again, but this time in the middle of summer. Got a few letters in the mail about three different recalls. One for the doors again, the driver seat belt pre-tensioner (May cause a fire in the cab if it were to go off in an accident) nice... last was block heater cable corrosion (leading to possible electrical short and truck catching on fire.) nice...
All above fixed for now by dealer.
