B and W non-slider on GM Standard Bed

I'm considering a B and W Patriot since it has some for and aft adjustment. Looks like I can get it 4" aft of axle dead center. I like that the base is under 100lbs if it's a non slider. Wanting to see if anyone here has used one of these on a standard bed 3/4 or 1 ton GM.

For the andersen crowd.... I do like the andersen, but the way it's offset to the rear, my pin box would hit my tail gate and potentially the side rails in tight turns.

You can change the offsets on the Anderson. Either swap the hitch in the bed or the coupler on the trailer.

I have a Reese slider on my reg bed Dodge. I have come close a couple of times in really sharp turns, but, have not needed the slide. If doing it over I would not get the slide as it just adds weight. And, yes, I may trade in my current hitch for an Anderson in the near future.

I see that now. Looks like I'd go from a 9" offset to a 1" by swapping the block around on the king pin. Decisions, decisions.

We are pulling an HT 27.5RKDS with an 07 Chevy 2500HD. FW has a Reese Revolution pin box and TV has a Reese Titan 16K non slider. Have plenty of space between bed rails and trailer and also plenty of room for 90 degree turns. Bed of truck is 6.5'.

So I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this hitch. UPS dropped it off today and I got it put together and installed. It took some cussing, stomping, filing and a Dremel tool to get it in the rails.

On a side note, it has this little piece you attach to one of the posts to level the head. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get it clamped on there. The head already tilts back so not sure how important it is. Anyone who has a similar hitch, let me know if it's a critical piece.

Mine did not come with that extra piece and there is no reference to it in my instructions.

I went to B&W website and downloaded the new instructions so it is definately something they added. It appears as though you just lift the head off. Install the leveller on the Cab side of the A frame and adjust the spring to tilt the head to your desired position.

I've never had an issue with mine and don't consider it necessary, but I think I will call B&W just to see what they say about it and see what one might cost.

I think you're right on it being a new addition. My instructions that came with the hitch don't include it. Just the online PDF has it.

Just did a 20-30 mile test run with the B and W, and must say, I'm impressed. Never heard a sound from it. Completely silent. Can feel the trailer is back there, but not due to any slop in the hitch.

Stopped in at Bucees for some coffee and some maneuvering test. Can get closer to 90 degrees of turn then I'd ever need to.

So, with this trailer, I'd say this is a good combo.

Good to hear. For the most part mine is very quiet. For a while I developed a little bit of noise which I tracked down to a small amount of play where the base interfaces with the rails in the bed and the anchor pins go in. I don't see how they could make it any tighter and still have enough play to get the pins in and my research indicated this is a source of noise for most all hitches mounted to in bed rails. I solved it by taking some inner tube material from a old bicycle and cutting some "square O's" to use as a gasket between the base of the hitch and the rails at the four contact points. I tossed the rest of the tube in my truck box for future gaskets.

I'm kind of quirky, noises and squeaks have to be thoroughly investigated or I can hardly think straight when I'm driving. If I know what is making the noise I'm ok.... but if not ... look out. My kid knows to stop the styrofoam cooler squeaks and the water bottle rattles in the drink holder after all these years.

Also, B&W was very quick to respond to my request and they are shipping me a levelling kit to install on my hitch. Couldn't really ask for better service than that.

I have some Curt rubber gaskets that serve the same purpose of what you mentioned. I couldn't use them this time around as I couldn't get this thing into rails without a little dremel work as is. I then had to stomp on all four courners to get it seated. I just hope I can get it out someday.

I'm the same with noises. I have a mystery rattle under the dash in my truck, that I can't track for the life of me. Drives me nuts. Fortunately if I'm riding alone my son's car seat makes enough racket to drown it out(which I can't figure out either).

I had the same issue and this is how I attached mine. I believe the intent is for the spring to force the hitch plate to tip down.

The pic is looking towards the back from the driver's side. It may not be a mandatory part but somebody took the time to design it and mfg built and included it so I've installed it.

Yeah, I see where it should be placed, but couldn't figure a way to get that clamp/clip to go on there. I figured it would just spread as I forced it on, but it wasnt opening up at all. I'll have to give it another go.

I think I removed the spring and tapped the clip on with a hammer. It's been 3 yrs but I think that's how I did it.

Sounds like the same installation technique I used for my Patriot that I installed in July. A darn good hitch and have been given good compliments on it. I also bought a bed cover to keep it looking good

So, I've got about 1000 miles now with with hitch. Really like it. Only had one issue where I couldn't get unhitched. I think it was chalked too tight and had to much back pressure on the kingpin maybe. I moved things around and it came undone just fine.

No chucking, and the hitch is dead quiet for the most part. The last 400 miles I developed a wierd squeak. I've found it to occur when the hitch head rocks laterally. I have to figure that out as it drives me nuts. It appears to well lubed, so not sure the issue. Overall very happy with this hitch.

My favorite part... I can get it out of the bed without help.
