Back up camera for 341RLTS 5th wheel
Have new North Point 5th wheel. I see unit is prewired for camera in back of unit and port for display monitor in bedroom. The manual states there may be pre installed power switch in exterior compartment. Does anyone know if it exist and if so where? Thanks.

My dealer could not find a power switch for the camera on my 2017 Pinnacle. The camera is always on. I have seen a power switch for the camera on earlier model Eagles in the utility bay next to the water hookups and the black and gray tank valves.

The switch was just put in for a month or so around sept/oct 2015
I don't have the switch (build date July 2015) and units in November 2015 don't have one.
The wire is just a hot lead behind the centre light. I couldn't find it when I installed my wired camera on the back, but I wasn't concerned because the wiring harness for the camera had power already. Then I installed my own lighted switch in the leveling controller compartment.

If you really want to put a switch in, and use the "prewire" I might be able to help. You would have to test it on your rig, because I couldn't find the wire to test it myself.

Not sure I understand what the switch would be for? Is it for security while parked at the campground?
Mine was wired into the parking lights so that when you're connected, even in the day, the lights must be on to get power to the camera. But once disconnected, I'm not sure how I'd power the camera without the lights being on. Is that what the switch is for?

Yes JetTech. I didnt want camera power always being on. The switch is to disconnect so it wont be drawibg from the batteries all the time
|

The only reason I ask that is because the way mine is wired, the switch would be pointless. Mine is wired into the trailer lighting, and the camera only gets power when connected to my truck with the lights on. When lights are off, the camera is off. Is yours different?

I'm one of those Sept/Oct 2015 builds that has the switch. My understanding is that the switch allows you to power the circuit, and use the camera, without the TV hooked up. Not positive, but IIRC at the time they were call it a security camera vs. back-up camera, and in that case you're going to need to power the camera when not hitched up. You're obviously going to be hitched up if backing, so no need for a switch then.
