The list of friends/family I'd be willing to lend my truck to is pretty short . . . The couple experienced at driving / towing something similar, understanding how to take care of it and, sufficient funds to make it right if something goes wrong.

The offer extends only to the TV, the 5th wheel is ours and only ours.

Yes indeed it would be a short list.

Better to lend your truck to a trusted friend than rent out your trailer to strangers!

It's SO FUNNY that this came up! Well, this and the other thread about lending/renting out your TT!

Just yesterday, DW thought we should put our trailer on a semi-permanent spot and rent it out! I said "NO WAY! Now, if you want to get ANOTHER trailer and rent that out, then we can talk."

We have an arrangement with a good friend who drives a lot and needs a heavy duty truck, in fact when his last truck was totaled (a 00 sd cc 7.3 426K miles on it) we sold him ours (which was a 03 7.3 cc sb) and down graded (I guess some might call it that) to a 6.8L sd ex cab, short box. The diesel was becoming too much hasle for my folks (who own half of the truck) and more often than not, it wouldnt start when they needed it. Any how, the agreement is if one of our two trucks break down and the other needs one to get them by while theres is getting fixed, its no big deal. But its not intended to be more than a few days at a time and has never been. He uses our truck maybe twice a year for a few days at most. We only really ask to use his if we are going on long trips, which doesnt happen much anymore.

I guess if you would rent out your rv, you would buy used mattresses and upholstered furniture too....I'll pass

I would lend my truck to one person, but he's got a Ram 3500 CTD so I know he can handle a large truck. However I wouldn't lend the trailer to anyone. All the flaws are known to me and I like keeping it that way.

I would never loan my truck or ask to borrow some ones truck. It is too much of a liability issue. Every time I borrow something I have to buy to 2, one for me and one to replace the one that broke. I think I would save my friendship and suggest they call Enterprise as they rents heavy trucks. But I am not heartless if a friend of mine truck broke down while pulling his trailer I would be glad to go pick it up.

I'd never loan my truck to anyone, and if anyone asked, I'd say, "Tell me what you need done, and I'll give you a hand with it." It's happened a few times, and it prevents anyone from damaging the truck and doesn't make me look like a selfish S.O.B. You need something done, ask me and I'll help. But don't touch the truck.

But many years ago, I did know one guy, more of an acquaintance than anything, who was getting kicked out of his apartment for not paying his rent. He called me and said he's getting everyone he knows who has a vehicle to come and help him. He didn't offer to pay for gas, and he didn't even really ask. I told him no way; my truck was only 3 months old (the truth at the time) and didn't have a single scratch on it, so I'm not helping him.
