Brake Controllers

So, my brake controller was acting up this past summer. I think it might just be dieing, so I'm thinking about a replacement. Any recommendations?

The current one, just looses braking power, no matter what the settings are. If I press the manual over ride, I get full trailer brakes. I have no plans to change tts or tv any time soon.

Happy New Year's.

I just purchased one of the Curt wireless controllers. Quite pleased with it so far, although have not gone any great distances with it.

Easy to pair and set.

Have you checked the contacts on the back of the unit or where it plugs in?

A little corrosion can cause really odd behavior in almost any electronic device.

Especially look at the car brake input line for corrosion or bad contact.

It's rare anyone has anything bad to say about the Tekonsha P3 (90195). Over 1,600 reviews for the P3 on Amazon---88% rate it 5-stars. That kinda says it all.

I had not checked the connections at the controller.

I am leaning towards the P3.

X3 on the Tekonsha P3. Only reason I sold mine when I got the new truck is because it has very similar functions.

You can't go wrong with the Tekonsha P3, great controller. The first one I purchased developed real sticky up/down gain buttons after several months. Called Tekonsha and explained the problem they didnt even ask how old or where I purchased the unit and overnighted a new unit. Great customer service.

One more quick recommendation, I have an old Tekonsha Voyager that was in my old 2001 Ram then moved to my '07 Ram. Nothing fancy, but stone reliable. Mine probably has 300+K towing miles and still works perfect.

Again, you can't compare it to the modern functionality of the P3, but probably the best budget controller on the market.

That's the goal. I'd be happy if I could describe all my equipment that way. I don't care about bells and whistles, but it better work as expected (especially brakes!).
