BW patriot vs companion

I am new to the 5er world. I have a GMC 3500 SRW and will pickup 2016 Northpoint 375BHFS in a week. 6.5 bed so will go with slider. I am having Airlift airbags installed Wednesday but I have to decide on a hitch. I am torn between Patriot and Companion. I like the idea of an open truck bed when not towing but the rails seems easier and less expensive. Input please. I have researched until the end of the internet but would love some real feedback. Any difference in tow comfort ability?

Congratulations on the 5er and welcome to the forum.

Sorry. I can't help with your hitch question.

Welcome!

I just changed from a Reese to a Companion and couldn’t be happier. I have the puck system on my truck so no rails when the hitch is out.

Thanks. Went with the companion. Like it worse but nothing to compare to.

A bit late but...I have the Patriot. The downside is the rails in the truck (mine did not come with the puck system). If that doesn't bother you then it works well.

For me the best solution would be to get a truck with the puck system. I just could not find anyone locally to install it (dealer would have taken several weeks to gather parts and schedule a time).
