Chains or cables?

Going to pull our 27DSRL with the 4x4 Silverado over low level Mtn passes in late November and early December. I have cable traction devices, but never used them pulling a trailer. Are cable good enough or would it be recommended that we use chain traction devices.

Unless you anticipate ice, cable should work fine. We used cable on our snow plow fleet, both the medium and heavy duty trucks.
