Cover windows when towing? 40BHS

I just bought a Jayco 40BHS which is located about 250 miles away.The company that is towing it for me has concerns about the 3 front windows and has said that they won't be responsible if a rock hits one of the windows and damages it as about 10 miles of the journey will be down gravel roads.My last travel trailer had a travel cover for the front window.I was thinking about taking some cardboard and duct taping it across the front but was wondering what other people had done?Thanks.

Duct tape will leave lots of residue when it's removed. Goo-Gone or Wd40 will remove it but take some elbow grease. Your tow company makes a good point tho. Gravel roads and front windows make a bad combo. Look at some of the blue painter's tape. I think that's what window installers use when replacing auto glass. It may cost more but might be easier to remove. Good luck with the new TT!

I think I would do everything I could to protect those windows. I can imagine what it cost to replace them.

If they slow down they won't be throwing rocks. Pay them a few extra dollars to take their time on the gravel road. If you follow them you could also use Velcro to hold some cardboard on the windows.

We have 3 miles of gravel road to get to our river lot. We travel it several times a year and while we don't have uncovered front windows I find that going slow keeps rock chips to a minimum. When meeting an oncoming vehicle I just crowd the center of the road to slow them down so rocks won't be flying when they go by. It is amazing how much they will slow down when meeting a truck and trailer hogging a lot of the road. I move over to the right when they get close.

I was looking at some pictures of some new 40BHS trailers and they appear to have a cover over the windows that is taped to the window frame.I am thinking about using the painters tape to attach some bubble wrap to the windows and then taking a big piece of cardboard and wrapping it across the front over the windows.I had a friend that had a new car and had to travel a lot of gravel roads for his job, he used to drive down the middle and make people slow down also.

It would be a high speed game of chicken if you tried that stunt on me. Maybe think about slowing yourself down and move as far away from the center as you can???

It may sound strange but I was at an office supply store and they had a 12 pack of very large bubble cushioned envelopes.I took four and taped them over each of the front windows.They fit almost perfect and I had no damage to the windows.
