Curt vs Drawtite

Curt verified after hour on phone with tech support this is the right hitch. Final answer was make a spacer to make up difference in frame profile. I did not ferl good about mounting a clsss v hitch this way. Draw tite on left in picture sent one that appears should actually fit the frame. Should i be dissapointed with curt? Would you tow over 10k with homemade spacer? They do sell ones as universal but insisted this was proper fit for my specific model. 97 f350 old square body. As a long time hot rodder i am familiar with modification required for "bolt on" parts, but this does not seem right.

If the Draw-tite is a direct bolt on with no mods, I would use that one.

Since you already have one that doesn’t need a spacer use that. As far as the other one needing a spacer, where exactly would it be placed? How thick would it need to be? If just a metal washer or something was needed, depending on where it may not be a big deal.
